After working my way up from PA to 2nd AD in Toronto during the very busy 1980’s, I then left for California and ironically ended up getting out of the film business for a while. I became an entrepreneur, raised two kids and then delved back in to the business as the director of the San Luis Obispo International Film Festival. For 17 years, I developed a number of new programs, met a LOT of filmmakers and learned a lot more than just the production end of the business. The festival grew in size and reputation and is now considered one of the “25 Coolest Film Festivals in the World” (on MovieMaker Magazine’s annual list)
