Throughout the year, Screen Nova Scotia and Picture NL lead Pan-Atlantic business development missions for film, television and animation producers to markets and festivals around the world.
Producers are selected through a competitive application process. Through their participation in the missions they are given the opportunity to develop co-production, financing, distribution, sales, and other potential partnership opportunities with the international industry.
Missions include access to a consultant, hired by the coordinating organization (SNS or Picture NL) to provide matchmaking services and on the ground support during the market. The consultant works with selected producers in arranging and scheduling meetings with identified targets resulting from pre-market consultant work. Other times, producers attend markets as part of a delegation, which provides access to networking events and designated meeting spaces for delegates to use during the market.
If/when selected to participate in missions, producers are responsible for booking their own travel and accommodations. Nova Scotia producers can apply for travel assistance (flights, accommodation, and ground transport) via the Creative Industries Fund from the Department of Communities, Culture, Tourism and Heritage. Please contact Jamie MacLellan, Manager, Creative Industries, for more information: Jamie.MacLellan@novascotia.ca / 902-222-3069
