Walter Forsyth

Walter Forsyth produced the award winning dramatic feature, ‘The Disappeared’ and two seasons of the digital series, ‘Everyone’s Famous,’ both nominated for two Canadian Screen Awards. He produced the feature documentaries ‘Bread in the Bones’ (Best Atlantic Doc AIFF 2020) by Darrell Varga, ‘Cubers’ (2008) by Richard LeBlanc, and ‘Elizabeth Bishop and the Art of Losing’ (coming in 2021) by John Scott..

Walter produced ‘Ingrid and the Black Hole’ (2016 Cannes FF Not Short on Talent), ‘Boyclops’ (TIFF 2004)) and ‘There’s a Flower in My Pedal’ (TIFF 2005 Honourable Mention).

He has written, directed and produced several award winning documentaries and short films including ‘The June Bug Symphony’ (Hot Docs), ‘Old St. Nick’ (Best of TIFF Shorts) and ‘LSD 25’ (Grands Prize Cabbagetown FF). He won TIFF 2011 Pitch This!, received a 2012 Sundance Doc Fund, was a CTV Banff Fellow and attended the TIFF Talent Lab.

Walter produced the short film, ‘How to Be Alone’, which has been viewed over nine million times on YouTube. He sat on the board of Hot Docs for six years, initiated the Halifax Independent Filmmakers’ Festival, programmed documentaries and shorts for the Atlantic Film Festival, works for Lunenburg Doc Fest and co-presents Hellifax Horror Fest.

Walter wrote and directed the Scott Pilgrim music video that spawned the graphic novel series and feature film, Scott Pilgrim Versus the World. His horror feature script, Shred, was part of Whistler’s Film Lab, AFF’s Script Development Program and Los Cabos Gabriel Figueroa Film Fund. He surfs and sleeps when he can.
