Paula Fairfield is an International and Emmy award winning sound designer for tv, film, commercials, and basically anything that makes noise. She has 14 Emmy nominations for her work on Lost, The River, Game of Thrones, Lovecraft Country, Rings of Power, House of the Dragon, and 3 Body Problem, with three wins, two for Game of Thrones, and one for Lovecraft Country. She won a BAFTA for her work on House of the Dragon, six Golden Reel Awards, and has received multiple other wins and nominations for her work in both The US and Canada. Her passion is high concept sound design and her main interest is working with visionary creatives, which is clearly reflected in her resume and her background as an artist.

Paula grew up in Nova Scotia and has a BFA and an Honorary Doctorate of Fine Arts from NSCAD University. During her career as an exhibiting artist, she was the co-director of Canada’s foremost media art center, Charles Street Video. Her art work resides in several collections worldwide, including the National Gallery of Canada. She sits on the Advisory Board of Northwestern University, the Executive Sound Peer Committee of the Television Academy, and is a member of the Film Academy and the Motion Picture Sound Editors Guild.

Recent projects include “3 Body Problem”, “House of the Dragon” and “Rings of Power”, “Agatha All Along” and “Mufassa The Lion King Prequel”. She will release her first immersive concept album in 2026, a music, sound design and spoken word called “A Tiny Trip of Grief”.
