About

After 30 years as an international documentary photojournalist for the Montreal Gazette, TIME, Canadian Geographic and The Globe and Mail, Nance Ackerman turned her sensitive eye to filmmaking. With a uniquely raw intimacy, her films explore such issues as drug addiction, child poverty, xenophobia and ageing. Her latest film, Conviction, is a creative collaboration with women inside Canada’s prisons as they envision alternatives to incarceration.
