About
Ian Wilson – Writer / Producer
Ian Wilson is a Nova Scotia–based screenwriter, filmmaker, and emerging producer with a strong track record in character-driven storytelling across comedy, drama, and elevated genre. His work combines a sharp commercial sensibility with grounded, human stories rooted in place and perspective.
His short romantic comedy Perceptions screened at nearly 50 international film festivals, while his documentary Deserted, which he co-wrote and directed, earned a Screen Nova Scotia Award nomination for its exploration of food insecurity in Atlantic Canada. He is currently developing a slate of projects including the award-winning feature rom-com Caramel Drizzle, the elevated thriller Transfusion, and the half-hour dramedy series The O’Fagans.
Recognized as an emerging producer by Screen Nova Scotia, Ian has further developed his craft through advanced training with industry leaders including John Yorke, Blake Masters, and Steve Kaplan. His approach blends creative development with a practical understanding of production, financing, and market positioning.
In addition to his work behind the camera, Ian is an ACTRA member with on-screen and voice credits, including a recurring role as Judge Morrison on the CBC series Diggstown. This dual perspective as both performer and creator informs his writing and collaboration with actors.
