Nova Scotia Content Market: Producer Page

Deadline for meeting requests: September 25

Please note: this is a private page, visible only to selected producers.

The Nova Scotia Content Market is an annual industry event for emerging and established producers in Nova Scotia to meet with influential Canadian, U.S. and international broadcasters, distributors, sales agents and studio executives. This market provides Nova Scotia producers with direct access to top industry decision-makers at the national and international levels, across all genres.

This year we’ll be presenting a two-day market, with one day of virtual meetings with LA-based and international delegates on October 6th, followed by one day of in-person meetings with North American executives and a networking reception on October 7th. Please scroll down for the full market schedule.

MARKET SCHEDULE

I. Training for Emerging Producers
Dates: October 1-2, 2025

As part of Screen Nova Scotia’s mandate to provide professional development initiatives, this two-day training course for selected emerging producers will include:

October 1st: A full day of in-person pitch training via an intensive masterclass program delivered by award-winning producer and development executive for Bell Media, Lauren MacKinlay.

October 2nd: An in-person Business Affairs day with information sessions and case studies hosted by national funding agencies, financiers, and film industry experts including: the Canada Media Fund, IoM Media, Stewart McKelvey, Route 504 PR, Telefilm Canada and Wentworth CPA Inc.

This mandatory training component of the event will provide our emerging producers with the tools and information they needed to effectively pitch their projects during the 1-2-1 meetings during the market. Selected emerging producers will receive further info on the training portion of the market.

** BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND: Consultant Lauren MacKinlay will also be holding a half-day pitch refresher for established producers on October 2nd – more info will be sent directly to producers via email. RSVPs to attend will be required as space is limited. There is no additional fee to participate in this session.

II. 1-2-1 Pitch Meetings: Virtual
Date: October 6th, 2025

We will continue to host our virtual Content Market day in 2025, allowing producers the opportunity to meet with LA-based and international delegates who are unable to join us on the ground in Halifax. This one day of pre-scheduled 1-2-1 online pitch meetings will allow us to increase the number of attending resource delegates and the overall number of pitch meetings for attending local producers.

All meetings will take place via Zoom, similar to last year. Please ensure that you have Zoom downloaded and are familiar with it before your meetings. Full instructions on how to connect to your virtual meetings will be available in advance (we’ll be using the same Breakout Rooms format as last year’s event).

III. In-Person Pitch Meetings
Date: October 7th, 2025

The main event, with over 200 1-2-1 pre-scheduled pitch meetings taking place between attending broadcasters, distributors, sales agents, studio executives, and Nova Scotia film and television producers. The 2025 in-person market will take place at the Halifax Harbourfront Marriott (1919 Upper Water Street) in the Acadia and Sable ballrooms.

IV. Networking Reception/Closing Party
Date: October 7th, 2025

Time: 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Location: Lot Six Bar & Restaurant (in the atrium)
1685 Argyle Street, Halifax

1-2-1 MEETING REQUESTS

A full list of attending resource delegates can be found HERE. This list was last updated on September 24th.

Please note that this year’s list is divided into two categories of delegates: in-person and virtual. Producers will make two lists of their top meeting selections (max: 10 requests for in-person and 10 requests for virtual). Please ensure these lists are in order of meeting preference. Meetings will then be scheduled by the SNS team based on the information provided in producer applications and delegate availability and profiles.

We do our very best to schedule each producer’s top meeting picks but we can not guarantee specific meetings, especially with highly requested delegates and/or those with limited availability in their schedules (i.e. many of our virtual delegates have limited availability due to different time zones). We will also be using submitted projects/slates in order to best match producers to highly requested delegates.

We ask that all producers carefully read the company profiles and bios of the attending delegates before making meeting requests, to ensure they will be a good fit for the projects on your slate.

If there are delegates who still have availability after all meeting requests have been scheduled, we will reach out to producers via email and offer those meeting slots on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Schedule: On October 6th, all virtual meetings will take place on Zoom between 10:30 AM – 5:50 PM Atlantic Daylight Time. On October 7th, all in-person meetings will take place between 9:30 AM – 5:00 PM Atlantic Daylight Time, with a scheduled lunch and afternoon break. We are assuming all producers are available throughout the full two days of meetings but if you have specific availability, please let us know ASAP so we can block out your schedule. Please note that this will affect the number of meetings we can book for you.

The deadline to submit meeting requests to alex@screennovascotia.com is 5:00 p.m. on September 25th.

Due to tight timelines, we can not accept late meeting requests. We also will not be able to change or rearrange any meetings after they are scheduled.

Additional Meetings: Listed at the bottom of the Content Market Bio sheet, these are meetings that can be requested and will not count towards your total meeting requests. This is a great way to connect one-on-one with local funders/financiers who will be available during the market.
