Martha Cooley

Martha is a filmmaker and arts administrator based in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Her administrative work has been recognized by the Canadian Progress Club through their Women of Excellence Award. Her practice as a filmmaker is in experimental, cinepoetry work and her films have screened at festivals and in gallery installations across Canada. Martha is currently the Executive Director of the Atlantic Filmmakers Cooperative, a non-profit resource centre for independent filmmakers.

The Atlantic Filmmakers Cooperative (AFCOOP) is an accessible member-run centre for the production and presentation of creative films in a collaborative, learning environment.

AFCOOP is a resource centre for media artists where people at a variety of levels of experience can meet, make work, view films, and exchange ideas. Our organization’s core activities are production programs, equipment rentals, workshops and screenings.
