Karen Wentzell is a Nova Scotia-based Producer and President of Waterstar Entertainment. Her focus is on scripted comedy and female-driven drama. She recently completed Executive Producing season 2 of Diggstown for CBC with Creator/Showrunner Floyd Kane and Executive Producer Amos Adetuyi. She also partnered as Executive Producer with Force Four Entertainment on the critically acclaimed comedy series Seed. Seed received eight Canadian Screen Award (CSA) nominations in 2014, including best comedy, and five CSA nominations in 2015, also for best comedy.

Karen is also known for her work as producer of the successful hit television series Trailer Park Boys. TPB won the 2004 Gemini Award for best comedy series and is widely considered a show that changed the landscape of Canadian television. Wentzell joined TPB in Season 2, helping to guide it through every special, season series, and the first two features. Karen also produced the 2007 Trailer Park Boys tv movie Say Goodnight to the Bad Guys. Additionally, she produced and co-wrote the documentary Hearts of Dartmouth, a behind the scenes look at TPB.

Before joining the Trailer Park Boys team, Wentzell spent 10 years as a network producer in Sports and Entertainment with CBC News Network. Prior to her work as a CBC producer she spent two years in front of the camera as a sports reporter for TSN. She is a busy volunteer in the Halifax community, and has volunteered for many years for Phoenix House. She is Vice-Chair of Screen Nova Scotia

She is a member of WIFT-AT. Her company Waterstar Entertainment is a long time member of the CMPA.
