About

With a foundational background and training as an actor, Brandon first began his work as a writer in developing independent theatre, becoming a founding member of the Bus Stop Theatre Playwright’s Unit. After moving to Montréal he was a key member of the hybrid film/theatre experience “All We Have Is Now” led by filmmaker and Governor General Award winner Jason Rodi, which fostered a theatrical practice of interactive performance dubbed “Theatre of Will” as well as a pivot towards filmmaking for him.

He produced his first short, “Pareidolia” — an examination of loss, obsession, and the supernatural — in Montréal and soon after returned to Halifax where he was selected as part of the 2021/22 Film 5 cohort with AFCOOP. Serving as a writer with director Michael Wohlfahrt and producer Annah-Lauren Bloom, his occult noir script “Anomalist” was created and selected for the 2022 FIN Festival. He has since founded the film company Wolf Hart Productions in honour of his dear friend and collaborator. Its first production, an industrial thriller entitled “Dwelling” that came out of Halifax’s ongoing housing crisis, premiered at the inaugural Third Watch Film Festival in Saint John.

Brandon’s work is steeped with genre and combines themes of working class struggles, existentialism, and the supernatural. Through the lens of the fantastic, he aims to highlight the sad and sanguine things that make us human.
