Application Deadline: April 28

Subpage Flourish

Screen Nova Scotia is now accepting applications from emerging-level Nova Scotia producers to join a Pan-Atlantic business development trip to Los Angeles to take place from June 19-23, 2023

Producers from across the Atlantic provinces will be selected to further enhance the promotion of co-production, joint-financing, distribution, and development opportunities between screen industry producers in the Atlantic Provinces and those internationally. The mission will enhance the group’s knowledge of working with producers on an international scale.

Newfoundland and Labrador Film Development Corporation (NLFDC) is the lead for this mission and will coordinate directly with the consultant throughout the entire contract.

Industry Consultant: A consultant will be hired to provide industry services and on-the-ground information sessions while in Los Angeles. The consultant will work with selected producers in arranging these sessions, with a focus on hitting target topics for the emerging producers in attendance. There will be no B2B meetings arranged on this mission. Applicants will be notified of the consultant once they are selected. Currently, group sessions are planned to take place from June 19 to 23, 2023.

COVID-19: A reminder that if the event is unable to occur in person due to the COVID-19 pandemic, one-on-one meetings will be held virtually during the same dates. The decision to move from an in-person to a virtual event will be based on the Government of Canada travel advisories HERE.

Flights, Accommodations, and Travel Assistance: Producers will be responsible for booking their own travel and accommodations for this trip. The delegation must be on the ground for meetings by the morning of June 19, 2023 (subject to change). Nova Scotia producers can apply for travel assistance (flights, accommodation, and ground transport) via the Creative Industries Fund from the Department of Communities, Culture, Tourism and Heritage. Please contact Jamie MacLellan, Manager, Creative Industries, for more information: (t) 902-222-3069 / (e) Jamie.MacLellan@novascotia.ca

Cost estimates per producer are below:

– Hotel (5 nights x 450 CAD): $2250
– Consultant Fee: $1250
– Ground transportation (airport to hotel and some cab/uber fees): $200

Cost: The cost for participating Nova Scotia producers is $1,250 CAD. Screen Nova Scotia will cover 50% of this fee for chosen participants.

Application Process: To be considered for this mission, producers must submit all application materials by the deadline of 3 p.m. on Friday, April 28, 2023. Incomplete/late applications will not be considered.
