This decision will negatively affect independent production volume, lead to thousands of job losses, and reduce economic output by hundreds of millions of dollars across the country.

Yesterday the Canadian Media Production Association, working in collaboration with the Directors Guild of Canada, the Writers Guild of Canada and the Alliance of Canadian Cinema, Television and Radio Artists, publicly launched an Electronic Petition to the House of Commons to voice its concern with the recent CRTC Group Licence Decision, which reduces the amount that Canada’s large broadcasters are required to spend on Programs of National Interest.

This decision will negatively affect independent production volume, lead to thousands of job losses, and reduce economic output by hundreds of millions of dollars across the country.

These national organizations, along with supporting organizations like Screen Nova Scotia, are encouraging ALL individuals working in our industry to add their name to the petition, promote it through social media, and share it with colleagues, friends and family, so that they too can sign the petition. If these decisions are left unaddressed, it could mean less of the amazing Canadian shows we all love.

Here are the links to both the French and English versions of the e-petition:
