POSITION: INDUSTRY SERVICES COORDINATOR

Position Status: Full Time, Permanent
Direct Report: Industry Services & Locations Manager
Salary Range: $38,000 to $42,000 (competitive salary, based on experience)
Location: Screen Nova Scotia office, 1869 Upper Water Street (Suite #403), Halifax, Nova Scotia

Purpose: The Industry Services Coordinator will report to the Industry Services & Locations Manager and provide project and event support on Screen Nova Scotia’s existing and developing programs. 

Context: Screen Nova Scotia is a not-for-profit industry association and film commission. The organization is guided by a volunteer board of directors and active members that work in all areas of film, television, and animation. In addition to working with the Industry Services & Locations Manager, the Coordinator will support the Operations & Communications Manager with SNS industry events. All employees assist with general office support as needed and understand that flexible hours are often necessary.  

Who we are looking for: The successful candidate will be passionate about growing Nova Scotia’s screen industry and will bring strong industry knowledge to the organization. You must bring with you a desire to increase the quality of opportunities for diverse creators (see below) and to expand resources for sustainable production practices. 

In 2019, Screen Nova Scotia introduced an organizational mandate to develop and deliver projects that are tailored towards increasing job opportunities and discoverability of diverse individuals (Black, Indigenous, Person of Color, 2SLGBTQIA+, persons with disabilities). 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Industry Services Coordinator will provide administrative support and communication to local producers, screen industry members, and partners. Services to be provided include:

  • Supporting the planning and administration of Screen Nova Scotia’s current suite of talent development and export programs while also supporting the development and implementation of new programs, as required.
  • Assisting with Screen Nova Scotia’s industry events and initiatives. 
  • Providing support to committees and working groups as required.
  • Assisting to coordinate outbound producer missions to festivals/markets.
  • Assisting with the preparation of funding applications and reports as needed.
  • Assembling data on relevant activities (performance indicators).
  • Assisting with industry program audits.

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE: 

  • Knowledge of the film and television industry in Nova Scotia is required.
  • 2+ years experience working in the film and television or related industry.
  • Experience in industry administration and/or program development is an asset.
  • Event management and production experience is an asset.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication, ensuring consistency with overall value proposition, tone, and brand is essential.
  • Experience supporting initiatives that advance opportunities for diverse creators is an asset.
  • Knowledge of environmentally sustainable practices in the film or related industry is an asset.
  • Ability to plan and work on several projects simultaneously and to meet objectives/deadlines in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment where quick turnaround times are crucial and attention to detail is a must.
  • Proven capacity to work collaboratively with others as part of a team, with independent problem-solving abilities.
  • Relevant educational and/or work background and experience in not-for-profit sector, film and media fields is an asset.
  • As a first point of contact for members of the local, national and international industry, employees at Screen Nova Scotia should be friendly and efficient. Professionalism is required at all times.
