The Nova Scotia Content Market is an annual industry event for emerging and established film and television producers in Nova Scotia to meet with influential Canadian and U.S. broadcasters, distributors, and studio executives. This market provides Nova Scotia producers with direct access to industry decision-makers at the national and international levels, across all genres and formats.

This year we’ll be presenting a hybrid event from October 24-25, with one day of virtual pitch meetings and one day of in-person meetings followed by a VIP closing reception.

SCHEDULE

Training for Emerging Producers
Dates: October 17 – 18
As part of Screen Nova Scotia’s mandate to provide professional development initiatives, this two-day training course for emerging producers will include:

– A full-day in-person interactive Market Preparation Program from international consultant Jan Miller. This master class will provide selected emerging producers with an overall introduction to preparing for the pitch, with a significant focus on the project content. Participation in this program includes a private online 1-hour consultation with each producer following the workshop, to review their one sheet and project content, and revise their final pitch in advance of the market.
– A virtual Business Affairs day, with online information sessions and case studies hosted by national funding agencies and financiers.

This mandatory training component of the event will provide our emerging producers with the tools and information they needed to effectively pitch their projects during the 1-2-1 meetings during the market. Selected emerging producers will receive further info once times have been confirmed.

Virtual 1-2-1 Pitch Meetings
Date: October 24
Prior to the in-person market, Screen Nova Scotia will be providing a virtual day of pre-scheduled pitch meetings for delegates/producers who are unable to travel or attend the in-person event. All meetings will take place via Zoom, similar to last year’s online market. Please ensure that you have Zoom downloaded and are familiar with it before your meetings. Full instructions on how to connect to your virtual meetings will be available in advance (we’ll be using the same Breakout Rooms format as last year’s event).

In-Person Pitch Meetings & VIP Networking Reception
Date: October 25
The main event, with over 200 1-2-1 pre-scheduled pitch meetings taking place between attending broadcasters, distributors, studio executives, and Nova Scotia film and television producers. The market will take place at the beautiful Harbourfront Marriott in downtown Halifax, followed by a private VIP networking reception at Pickford & Black.

1-2-1 MEETING REQUESTS

A full list of attending resource delegates can be found HERE. We’ll update producers if this list changes.

Please note that this year’s list is divided into two categories: in-person and virtual.

Producers will make two lists of their top meeting selections (max: 10 requests for in-person and 10 requests for virtual). Please ensure these lists are in order of meeting preference. Meetings will then be scheduled by the SNS team based on the information provided in producer applications and broadcaster/distributor/studio availability and needs.

Please note that we do our very best to schedule each producer’s top meeting picks but we can not guarantee specific meetings, especially with highly requested delegates and/or those with limited availability in their schedules (we will also be using submitted projects/slates in order to best match producers to highly requested delegates).

We ask that all producers read the company profiles and bios of the attending delegates before making meeting requests, to ensure they will be a good fit for the projects on your slate.

If there are delegates who still have availability after all meeting requests have been scheduled, we will reach out to producers via email and offer those meeting slots on a first-come, first-serve basis.

On October 24th, all virtual meetings will take place on Zoom between 10:30 AM – 6:00 PM Atlantic Daylight Time, with a scheduled lunch and afternoon break. On October 25th, all in-person meetings will take place between 9:30 AM – 5:00 PM Atlantic Daylight Time. We are assuming all producers are available throughout the full two days of meetings but if you have specific availability, please let us know ASAP so we can block out your schedule. Please note that this will affect the number of meetings we can book for you.

The deadline to submit meeting requests to info@screennovascotia.com is Tuesday, October 11th. Due to tight timelines, we can not accept late meeting requests. We also will not be able to change or rearrange any meetings after they are scheduled.

Additional Meetings: Listed at the bottom of the Content Market Bio sheet, these are meetings that can be requested and will not count towards your total meeting requests. This is a great way to connect one-on-one with local funders/financiers who will be available during the market.
